Designer Shayne Oliver announced the return of his Hood by Air brand, which suspended operations in 2017. Now Oliver wants to engage in experimental fashion and protest against materialism and the commercialization of the world. “2020 has provided a welcomed and timely opportunity to catch up. Even now gentrification leaves no physical spaces for new, influential ideas to exist or reside,” said Oliver. “So Hood By Air will be a place for these ideas to have a home.”

The updated brand will consist of four divisions: the Hood by Air luxury brand, the HBA platform, which will allow interacting with customers directly, as well as two new projects - Museum and Anonymous Club. The Museum will store archives that, according to The Cut, will be updated and interpreted by invited designers. Anonymous Club will support young talents, club members will be able to collaborate with Hood by Air and HBA.

On Thursday, July 16, Hood by Air will launch T-shirts created with UpRising, a project that focuses on youth leadership. The brand will also develop a card design for the Cash App service. The proceeds from both collaborations will be donated to three charitable organizations - Black Trans Femmes in the Arts, Emergency Release Fund and Gays & Lesbians Living In A Transgender Society.
